This paper discusses the influence of concrete strength, material ductility and fibre reinforcement on the impact resistance of concrete slabs. High strength and extra high strength concrete slabs (compressive strength 75 - 200 MPa) were tested to study the effect of steel fibres in concrete. The tests varied from 0% (non-fibrous concrete) to 4% steel fibre by volume. The experimental results showed that the impact resistance, punching shear capacity, ductility, failure mechanisms and damage are greatly influenced by the amount of fibre reinforcement.
