摘要

The results of the linear stability analysis of thin-walled columns displaying Z, S and Sigma cross-sections are presented. A parametric investigation, concerning th variation of the critical stress and associated buckling mode with (i) the column length and (ii) the thickness and relative widths of the plates forming the section, is performed. Both local and global buckling modes are dealt with an particular attention is paid to (i) the determination of combinations of parameter values leading to the occurrence of "mixed modes" and also to (ii) the possibility of such modes being associated to the critical stress values.
