This paper discribes elasto-plastic finite element analysis modeling steel bridge piers which have stiffened box cross sections under a constant compressive axial load and monotonic lateral load. The parametric study have been done to make clear the influences of some important parameters on strength and ductility, such as width-thickness ratio, slenderness ratio, axail load ratio, relative flexural rigidity of stiffener and different yield stress of stiffener. Also a comparison is made between experimental and computed results.
