A group of 11 hull-less barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) genotypes including 9 six rowed accessions and 2 two rowed entries were evaluated using morphological and biochemical methods of identification. The UPOV guidelines for barley variety identification were used to prepare the morphological description for these 11 promising lines. Furthermore, and because all genetically differences between individuals or genotypes are a reflection of changes in the DNA sequences, using molecular DNA marker profiling technology makes it possible to characterize and identify the outcome of any breeding program. Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used for identification of the 11 entries. It is suggested to combine the biochemical methods to the morphological description to obtain more accurate identification for the genotypes to be registered.
