A summary of observations on acoustic emissions made during uniaxial compression testing of several brittle rock types (granite, limestone and tuff) will be presented. Acoustic emission observations include statistical parameters; i.e., cumulative events, energy and frequency characteristics, etc. Using hte servo-control and high-stiffness testign machine, observation results show not only the brittleness features but also AE characteristics in both pre-and post-peak region.
