Damage Growth Studies in Composites under Static and Dynamic Loads

摘要

Damage growth behavior in transparent glass-polyester composites has been studied under dynamic loads. Optical technique coupled with high-speed photography has been used to record the dynamic damage initiation and propagation. The images obtained have been analyzed to deduce various inforamtion like, length, area, velocity etc of the damage. SEN specimens are loaded in tension using MTS-800 system to study the damage growth behavior under static loads. The effect of fiber volume fraction on the damage growth behavior has also been investigated.
