1. The structure and properties of polyester filaments are closely related to the filament velocity achieved in the spinning process. A stable structure with sufficient crystallinity and high molecularorientation requires the filaments spun at velocity around 4,500 m/min or higher. 2. Properties of light weight polyester spunbond fabrics depend strongly on the structure of the filaments, therefore are also closely related to the filament velocity. A strong, soft and dimension stableproduct can be produced with the filaments spun at velocity 4,500 m/min or higher. 3. Ason spunbond technology differs greatly from any other conventional technology in its unique spinning technique. A short spin line and a short draw slot are used so that a process is created wherein a maximum draw force F(z) and a minimum air drag F_(drag) under equivalent conditions are obtained, resulting in filaments being spun with a maximized inertial force F_(inert) at an elevated temperature. 4. High quality polyester light weight spunbond products can be produced with Ason spunbond technology. The production capacity is in a range of from 80 kg/h/m for 0.4 dpf products to 300 kg/h/mfor 2 dpf products.
