Elastic-Plastic Dynamic Beam under Slamming Loads

摘要

The paper presents the results of a study on dynamic buckling properties of simply supported beams under different slamming loads, including the influences of initial geometric imperfection and load duration. The theory of statistical material's constitutive relation is applied in demonstrating the fundamentals of the study with their solutions. Budiansky and Roth (B-R) criterion is employed in determining the dynamic buckling of beams. The developed method is evaluated by two types of beam i. e., one with a large slenderness whose critical buckling stress applied is within the limit of the material elasticity and the other with a mediate slenderness of a critical buckling stress approaching to the material yield limit. Detailed calculation results of the two types of beams are presented and discussed comparatively with that of a beam with linear strain- hardening materials. The paper is concluded with findings of the study.
