The earth reinforcement method by soil-bags has many advantages. The soil-bag brings out the large bearing capacity to the external force because the materials inside soil-bags are wrapped and confined completely by the bag. The earth reinforcement using soil-bags is environment-friendly because the various construction wastes, such as crushed concrete,asphalt and tile wastes can be used asthe materials inside soil-bags. Soil-bags thus contribute greatly to recycling of waste materials. The usual foundations are not required to construct using soil-bags although on the soft/weak foundation soils because soil-bags have almost the same unit weight as foundation soils. Furthermore, Soil-bags can be constructed solely by human labor without the special construction heavy equipments and bags are cheap and easy to acquire, thus, it is better applicable construction method for the developing countries. In this paper, the prediction methods are presented for the bearing capacity of soil-bags and the compression test results of soil-bags are shown. As a result,the predictions nearly agree with the test results.
