摘要

Commercial and Industrial AMR is becoming more important to the gas industry. There are economic justifications to install, expand and improve C&l AMR systems today. In fact, there are compelling reasons to not wait ? data that is not being collected now will not be available to help make future decisions. There will be no quantum jumps in technology that will provide the one perfect AMR system for all needs. It may make sense to reconsider the system used now to collect C&l data, and determine if improvements can be made or costs reduced. A new C&l AMR system can complement existing utility AMR technologies and may provide the needed information at reduced long-term cost. Cost is always an important consideration in any business. Keeping costs low while obtaining the needed data should be an important goal. If overall cost of ownership is kept as low as possible, more data can be collected from more meters. Overall value to the utility is directly proportional to the percentage of total load covered. Customers will more readily accept lower cost metering services, which also provide new profits to the utility. Everyone can win with a well-designed C&l AMR system.
