BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P. (BAE Systems) is a contractor for the Army Program's Future Combat System (FCS). The FCS program includes Reliability requirements that are substantially higher than that provided by any fielded Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV). As such, the Army and FCS Lead Systems Integrator (LSI) have created the Reliability Investment Program (RIP) to ensure the delivered FCS MGV Reliability supports the needed Operational Availability to win the battles FCS is envisioned to fight. Given the focus on Reliability under RIP a new paradigm has been implemented that focuses on detailed analysis and testing performed early in the design process to facilitate issue resolution in the design prior to transition to system level testing. As part of the RIP efforts a metric process has been developed to track growth between the initial predicted failure rate and failure rate improvements made through Physics of Failure (PoF) analysis and/or Reliability Enhancement Testing (RET). This paper discusses the Non-Line of Sight-Cannon (NLOS-C) RIP program and the metrics to quantify Reliability gains.
