Polyolefins are widely used in outdoor applications. Stabilization systems are essential for these materials to maintain desired properties during processing and uses. The mechanism of each class of stabilizers and the principles of selecting suitable stabilization systems for different application are discussed. The efficacy of different hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), UV absorber and their combinations in different applications is compared. The performance comparison of triazine UV absorber and conventional benzotriazole UV absorber is investigated in several specific applications. The efficiency of a new NOR light stabilizer system is highlighted.
