A new technology, based on the use of VERSIFY~(TM) plastomers, has been developed for the manufacture of easy-open flexible and rigid packaging. This new technology provides consistent, clean, peelable seals when bags are fabricated over a wide range of seal temperatures and packaging conditions. It can be used in monolayer, coextruded, and laminated film structures. The new technology is shown to provide low heat seal initiation temperatures, superior hot tack strength, a broader hot tack window, and improved organoleptic properties compared to traditional peelable seal technology. The technology can be used to make flexible packaging for items such as cereal, crackers, snacks, processed meat, as well as lid stock for items such as yogurt and fruit cups.
