摘要

Weatherseals for automotive, building and construction applications have improved gradually, rather than in large leaps, since their inception in the early-to-mid 1980s. Until recently, shortfalls and idiosyncrasies of the material and processing obstacles were something manufacturers simply had to put up with. This presentation will discuss the automotive weatherseals and the material constraints, followed by what's happened recently in terms of improved mechanical properties, how fogging has been resolved and advances in low friction technology. Finally, we will discuss the results of the latest developments which show the new properties of these TPVs, the new processing parameters, a look at comparative costs, and a look down the road where this is all headed.
