Reliability assessment is usually based on experimental data. If these data were obtainedrnon small number of samples, the parameters of their distribution can only be estimated. Thisrnuncertainty must be considered in reliability evaluation. The paper presents approximate formulaernfor confidence limits for quantiles of Weibull distribution, tolerance limits for normal distributionrnand for linearly correlated data, formulae for safer application of the interference method (G = R -rnS) for normally distributed load effects S and the resistance R of the structure, and methods for reductionrnof the uncertainty due to small number of input values when the simulation Monte Carlornmethod is used. Also, conditions for the use of small sample sizes are discussed.
