Effects of uncertainties of fault activities on seismic hazard assessment are presented.rnAn analytical tool is developed to evaluate the probability of future earthquake occurrencernwhen the dates of previous earthquake events are identified, but with uncertainty. Results of casernstudies demonstrate the way the information on the older events reduces the uncertainty in the daternof the last event, thus reduces the uncertainty in the seismic hazard of the fault. Because of the factrnthat the date of the past fault event is often expressed in a time range with one or both ends, thernproposed method is useful for the more reliable evaluation of the seismic hazard of a fault.
