It was found that members of a series of aryl and heterocyclic aminatophosphorus (1+)salts form a new class of non-mobile protectant fungicides espectially efficacious against Plasmopara viticola,the causative orgnaism of grape downy mildew.the synthesis and strucure-activity relatinships of this class of fungicides are discussed.developmetn of this series was discontinued due to photoxidcity to vines and extreme ocular irritation found in the most active compounds.
