This analysis has been prompted by the need for improving understanding of the behavior of helical piers in frozen ground. The research has been funded by a grant from the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation to examine the performance and behavior of helical piers to increase their use in remote, arctic regions. The Finite Element Method (FEM) was used to determine the displacement, stresses and creep behavior related to this foundation system.
