In today's increasingly flat and global world, a business imperative for users of TPE compounds is to find ways to create new, profitable opportunities for differentiation. This paper highlights three product innovations that enable customers to increase profitability using different approaches. Advances in ournanotechnology based flame retardant TPE systems provide enhanced fire retardancy over a wide durometer range. This innovation allows customers to capture value by broadening the performance envelope of traditional flame retardant styrenic TPE systems. Our next generation polyamide-bonding technology enables increased flexibility in part, process, or application design by providing a range of TPEs with broad processing windows. The increasing demands in the automotive sector to identify innovations to reduce cost lead to the development of a high-gloss product with superior scratch and mar resistance. Use of these TPEs can reduce overall system costs for automotive exterior and interior applications requiring up to 2500kJ weatherability. This paper discusses the technical merits and market implications of these creative product developments.
