GIS is an important power equipment widely used in the field of power transmission, distribution and substation. In recent years, although the manufacturing technology of GIS has been improved and innovated continuously, the development in the field of status monitoring was not big. Now, the integrated automatic technology of substation in China is developed very quickly, but it is developed just by the users, with elements used repeatedly and low economic efficiency, separated from the high voltage switchgear. Now in China and other countries, there is not satisfactory measuring and diagnosing systems, especially the collecting, managing, analyzing, statistical and judging technologies and equipment of status parameters of circuit breaker in long-term service for manufacturers and power service departments. There are many difficulties for the power user to suitably add the sensors, electronic elements, computers, etc. at the equipment manufactured. Most current products are of single function or a few kinds of functions, the integrated monitoring system on line with comprehensive functions has not yet developed. It becomes an important task to design and manufacture the status monitoring system for intellectualized high voltage switchgear along with the status monitoring systems for high voltage switchgear (for example SF_6 circuit breaker) have been developed continuously by the foreign big Companies since the early days of the nineties, and along with the development and application of intellectualized high voltage switchgear. So, China's enterprises to manufacture the high voltage switchgear should actively go along with the trend of developing high voltage switchgear in 21st century, and begin the study on intellectualization of high voltage switchgear on time.
