摘要

The modelling of landslides on real mountainous terrain has indicated the topographic features such a ridges and bends in valleys disrupt the landslide structure that leads to long run-out by significantly increasing the energy dissipation throughout its depth as a result of re-arrangement of the flow generated by these topographic features. This indicates that long run-out landslides are likely only to be found when mountains collapse in favourable areas in the absence of high cross-flow obstacles and where a significant proportion of the run-out is across relatively flat terrain at the base of the mountains.
