摘要

We have in vestigated splice loss characteristics of various dispersion compensating fibers(DCFs). DCFs, which have a deeply depressed cladding to realize a negative dispersion slope, show large splicing loss. In order to reduce the splice loss without severe degradation of the slope compensaton performance, we designed a DCF with a shallow depressed cladding. The DCF can be spliced to the standard SM fibers with the loss of 0.2dB and has the dispersion slope approximately equal to zero.
