摘要

In Japan, safety goals are proposed and risk informed regulation (RIR) is beingrnintroduced. The safety goals will be utilized to improve the current regulatory systemrnand, after experiences of their usage are compiled, to judge the safety of individual facilities.rnThe RIR concept is being applied to all stages (i.e. siting, design, construction,rnoperation, inspection and decommissioning, etc.) of every type of nuclear facility andrnthe activities aiming at more effective and efficient regulation. The current emphasis isrnplaced on improvement of regulatory inspection of nuclear power plants, but otherrntypes of applications are anticipated, for example, in the rule making for seismic issues.
