摘要

This paper presents an investigation into creep characteristics of sand through a series of triaxial tests in compression and extension. Tests were carried out on two types of natural sand and one artificial sand. The tests highlight the link between time-dependent deformation behaviour and particle size, morphology and material strength. The results raise questions as to whether it is possible for creep response to be captured accurately by current constitutive models and whether a knowledge of the material parameters, particle shape and size distribution could be better used in understanding deformation behaviour.
