1 Review of development in dam construction technologiesMr. C.B.Viotti, President of ICOLD said, apparently, Chinese dam construction technology hasascended the world advanced ranks through the construction of Three Gorges Project while hewas visiting Three Gorges Project. The dam at 30m or more in height has reached 4900 in China by the end of 2006, of which theoversized hydropower projects completed or under way are: Three Gorges Project, ShuibuyaCFRD Project with a height of 233m, the highest one of the same type in the world at present;Guangxi Longtan RCD (217m high), Jingping domed dam (305m high), Sichuan province,Guangzhao RCC gravity dam (201m high), Guizhou province, Tianhuangping pumped storagestation, Zhejiang province and Yele asphalt concrete core dam, Sichuan province.
