摘要

The Swedish Road Administration (SRA) has developed an ITS strategy in 2003. The use ofIT in the road transport system is seen as one of several means to achieve transport policygoals. Swedish know-how in the field of IT and telecommunications in combination with highcompetence in car manufacturing, road safety and environmental issues offers good conditionto design, produce and implement IT in the road transport system. This is carried out as a costeffective alternative to physical extension of the road network.To produce travel services we require access to traffic data, preferably from all transportmodes. To achieve this, we are working to provide multimodal data from the transportauthorities. Accessibility to existing traffic data is facilitated by using available standards andcommon solutions based on a stable information infrastructure.Our way to implement ITS solutions is based on the ITS strategy, and the main principles forapplying data. We have a clear separation between systems for data collection, refinement anddissemination. An essential part in this concept is the use of a message exchange system. As aresult, we have a flexible structure with clearly defined interfaces. There are several examplesof ITS implementations showing that this has been a successful strategy.
