Drivers in Japan receive information on traffic congestion status and the travel time requiredto reach major destinations through variable message signs and other means. Recent carnavigation systems automatically calculate time required for the user to reach user-designateddestinations, indicating a change in the form of utilizing travel time information. This paperreports travel time information delivery today and further possible innovations based onverification results.
