By taking the bedding slope of Shuangda Road in Beijing as an example, this paper firstly carried out careful analysis on deformation characteristics of rock slope through systematic investigation and deformation monitoring of the field engineering geological conditions.Based on this, in-depth exploration was conducted for its deformation mechanism by combining with engineering geological conditions via discrete element (UDEC) numerical simulation.The monitoring results show that the slope is at the final slippage and bending stage, slippage and bending deformation occurs to the rock mass at the surface layer of the slope along the bedding plane, and deformation and failure happen under the thrust generated by bending of layered rock mass.Meanwhile, connected shear sliding surface is formed.Overall instability occurs to the slope under the effects of denudation or excavation.Discrete element (UDEC) software data were used to simulate the body status of this slope under supporting state and monitoring analysis was made for the slope after treatment.The slope has reached the stability requirements after being supported by retaining wall and anchor rope.
