摘要

Easy and secured access to sensitive patient information is essential in e-healthcare, and e-signature has been determined to be the key to address the privacy and security issues. Currently, digital signature legislation is being enacted on an almost instantaneous global basis. This paper gives a timely update on both the technology and the ever-changing legal environment by looking at multiple jurisdictions. In addition to describing of these new technologies, this paper discusses in depth the legal ramification of a traditional signature and how technology must be improved to provide the same functionality for digital signature to be acceptable as a legal document.
