In the context of increasing requirements to modern traffic and transport systems, the demand for intelligent planning and control components increases as well. In order to avoid an inflexible and central control approach it is possible to divide a transport system into independent, decentralized units, which interact with each other and thus control the transport flow. For this purpose it is possible to pursue an agent-based approach, which is already successfully used in the information-processing industry. The basis of the agent-based approach forms a descriptive language enabling to specify the aimed at transport scenario in a sufficient way. This again forms the basis for the architecture of an agent system which serves among others for control in transport logistics.
