摘要

The current study investigated the linguistic effects of the Lidcombe Program on two preschool aged children (females). Analyses were performed on measures of percent syllables stuttered of child, mean length of utterance of child, articulatory rate of parent and child, and conversational demand of parent, specifically in the parent's use of requests for clarification and information both pre- and post-treatment. Measures were obtained through analyses of spontaneous language samples of both subjects with their mothers pre- and post-completion of the Lidcombe Program. Results revealed inconsistencies between subjects as well as their parents. Moreover data revealed decreased frequency of stuttering, evidenced by a decreased percent syllables stuttered (PSS) post-treatment. In addition, results showed an increased MLU for both subjects. Results also indicated an overall increase in conversational demand after completion of Lidcombe Program. Further analyses showed discrepancies indicating no clear relationship, but the need for further research, due to the limitations of a case-study.
