Conjugated five-membered heterocyclic compounds including 2-ethylfuran, 2-furfural, 2-acetylfuran, 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural (HMF), 2-ethylthiophene, 2-formylthiophene, 2-acetylthiophene, 2-ethylpyrrole, 2-formylpyrrole, 2-acetylpyrrole, 2,4,5-trimethyloxazole, and 2,4,5-trimethylthiazole in absolute alcohol containing chlorophyll were bubbled with oxygen under light. The photooxidation reactivity of these compounds, which was measured by a high performance liquid chromatographic method, was as follows: 2-ethylpyrrole ;The chlorophyll-sensitized photooxidation products of 2,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-3(2H)-furanone or DMHF (including ethylpyruvate, ethyllactate, acetic acid, ethyl-2-acetoxypropionate, acetoxyacetone, 1,2-ethanediol, acetoxy-2,3-butanedione, 2-oxopropyl-2-acetoxypropionate, lactic acid, and 2-acetoxypropionic acid), 2-ethylfuran (including 5-ethyl-5-ethoxy-2(2H)-furanone), pyrrole (including 1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione and 5-ethyl-5-ethoxy-1H-pyrrole-2-one), 2,4,5-trimethyloxazole (including diacetylformamide and triacetamide), and 2,4,5-trimethylthiazole (including acetamide, 2,4,5-trimethyloxazole, diacetylformamide, N-acetyl-2-imino-3-butanone, acetylthioacetamide, and diacetylthioacetamide) were identified using gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
