摘要

Purpose. The purpose of this study included: (a) soliciting the perceptions of prospective administrators/supervisors toward their programs of study and the Alabama Teacher Competency Test in Administration and Supervision, and (b) arriving at conclusions and recommendations from an interpretation of the collected data.; Methodology. Data for this study were gathered from 138 examinees of the Alabama Teacher Certification Test: Administration and Supervision. The instrument used in the collection of data was a multiple-response questionnaire. It was designed to elicit responses relating to the Alabama Teacher Certification Test: Administration and Supervision.; The questionnaire was based on an examination of the objectives of the Alabama Teacher Certification Test: Administration and Supervision. The survey instrument included questions relating to the areas of legal aspects of organization of education, supervision of instruction, development and evaluation of education programs and services, personnel administration, and additional areas.; The gathered data were analyzed in the six areas. Appropriate percentages and frequencies were displayed in tabular form with a narrative explanation.; Conclusions. (1) The future pool of potential administrators and supervisors will contain more females than males. (2) The institutions of Alabama which offer programs of study in the field of Administration and Supervision provide an adequate program of instruction. (3) The respondents who completed their programs of study within a two-year time period are more current and knowledgeable about the field of educational administration and supervision. (4) It is not expected that the number of minority administrators and supervisors will increase significantly in the future in the state of Alabama. (5) The lack of required core courses in the areas of school law, school finance, school personnel, and educational business management will result in the employment of personnel with serious deficiencies in administrative and supervisory skills. (6) Having served in the capacity of classroom teacher will ensure that potential administrators and supervisors have a better understanding of the instructional program. (7) While respondents have a positive attitude about the Alabama Certification Test: Administration and Supervision, the course content program could be improved by emphasizing the importance of food services management, school psychological services, and school counseling services.
