It has been 35 years since China adopted its open-door reform policy. Given the momentum of China's historical growth, it is expected that its GDP will continue to grow at an annual rate of seven to nine percent over the next years. China's economic performance over the past 30 years has been remarkable. It is a unique development success story, providing valuable lessons for other countries seeking to emulate this success (WB&DRC, 2013). However, China's developments are facing serious imbalance issues. China's social, political, and educational developments are greatly behind the development of the economy and the development of its education also lags. To sustain these economic growth rates, the demand for well-educated personnel is likely to be high (WB, 1997). Addressing the lag of educational growth has become urgent and extremely important. How to identify and analyze China's challenges of educational growth have been arousing wide public concern.;This study will systematically present viewpoints and measures about the important and difficult problems of education reform and development in China through retrospect and prospect of the development of China's education with a reference to developed countries' experience. It will provide reanalysis of previous data and research and briefly analyze the reasons, and review the past policies and practices which related to Chinese education. Based on a previous research, this study will put forward suggestions, give measures to cope with the main issues which restrain the reform and development of education in China, and then improve the status quo of China's unbalanced development to achieve the goal of sustainable development of China.
