摘要

This thesis describes the application of improved particle swarm optimization in optimal power flow calculation. Firstly, this work provides a review and comparison of different methods using in reactive power optimization and introduces the concept of PSO method. Next, according to the disadvantages in the basic PSO algorithm, this work gives some suggestions to improve the algorithm performance and makes it more practical in reactive power optimization. This is followed by a focus on the mathematical modeling of reactive power optimization and programming of particle swarm optimization algorithm in Matlab, the result is compared with traditional method. In the end, outlook and conclusion on application of particle swarm optimization in reactive power optimization are presented, and some ongoing challenges in achieving a comprehensive and reliable algorithm are also briefly discussed.
