摘要

Mixed-use development, although not a new concept, is continuing to grow in popularity. However, the very premise that makes them popular, having three or more uses in one project, also creates challenges. Zoning, building codes, and appropriate uses are some of the prominent challenges developers face when planning this type of project. In 2004, Dr. Levine from the University of Michigan performed a nation-wide survey of developers to determine the highest impact challenges. This study will recreate the survey to determine current challenges and if there has been any change in challenges encountered. Further, the survey will be opened up to additional roles in mixed-use development, planners, architects and construction managers, to see if the different roles encounter different challenges. Knowing this can help each role understand the integrated process of project planning and delivery and better overcome these challenges.
