School business administration is becoming increasingly important to the entire operation and concept of the school system. Most educators do not understand the position or the responsibilities of a school business manager. This study highlights the personal experiences of two school business managers, along with my own personal experience, using an hermeneutic research design. I will also include my personal experiences as a school business manager in chapter 5. The purpose of this study was to describe and explain how two school business managers learned the complexities, responsibilities, functions, and tasks pertaining to the position of school business manager. As the data from the study were reviewed and analyzed with regard to the acculturation process of first-year school business managers two findings emerged: first-year school business managers need an experienced mentor and they need to build relationships with professionals outside the school district.;To date, little known research has focused on the acculturation process of school business managers. Furthermore, no cross case analysis approach had previously been employed in a study of the acculturation process of business managers. This study is expected to contribute to the literature in two ways: (1) by providing a means for first-year school business managers to learn their position and understand the complexities that go with the responsibilities, and (2) by providing the foundational support to further empirical research of the acculturation process for school business managers.
