It summarizes the origin, course and type of New Town in developed countries and regions, and estimates urbanization stage of new town, then analyses the relation of new town construction and new urbanization. Based on metropolitan development process, it reveal the feature and the success experience of new town, including location, size, function, traffic, public facilities and the development of operators and so on, then thinks about the construction strategy of new town in China.%总结梳理了发达国家与地区新城建设的起源、发展及其类型，国内外均经历了从卫星城到新城的发展演变过程，但国内新城的概念更加多元化，与国外新城所指有所差异。基于国内外典型大都市空间结构的发展特征，较为系统地揭示了新城建设的主要特点与成功经验，包括区位、规模、功能、交通、公共设施及其开发运营等方面，从中发现伦敦、巴黎、东京、香港、新加坡的新城建设特征各异，在新城的人口规模、密度及设施配套方面均有一定的差异，由此对国内大都市新城建设的战略部署进行了探索思考。
