OBJECTIVE: To explore the implementation of Prophylactic Antibiotic Administration Process for Operation Room Nurse in our hospital, and to promote the rational use of antibiotics. METHODS: Prophylactic Antibiotic Administration Process for Operation Room Nurse (called Process for short) was designed according to the characteristics of operation room and relative guidance. Administration before and after implementation of Process (30 min before incision of skin, operation >3 h and blood lose > 1 500 mL)were compared, and relevant information and nurses' feedback on Process were analyzed. RESULTS: There was significant difference in prophylactic application of antibiotics in nurses before and after implementation of Process (P<0.01). The qualified rate of drug use was 25% before implementation and 87% after implementation. CONCLUSION: Reasonable processes make nurses' work more organized and planning.
