Recent biochemical and molecular biological approaches have cle arly demonstrated that Pg can elaborate proteases which are important in vir ulen ce and have complex functions in physiology. This review discusses the biologica l significance of Pg proteases and summarizes their potential roles of in pe riodontal destruction.
