However, in ihe face of extraordinary serum concenlralions of ihese xenobiolics or renal dysfunction, ExLracorporeal removal (ECR) techniques oflen become necessary. These techniques include hemodialysis (HD), hemoperfusion (HP) , and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Our goal in this review is to discuss the properties that make xenobiotics amenable to removal by ECR and the advantages and disadvantages of the individual techniques. .
