The geometry around Co center in bis(4-hydroxy-3-quinolinecarboxylate) bipyridine cobalt(Ⅱ) (1) , prepared by the hydrothermal treatment of ethyl 4-hydroxy-3-quinolinecarboxylate and CoCl2 in the presence of pyridine, displays a slightly distorted octahedron in which two apical positions are occupied by py and equatorial plane i s composed of four O atoms from two hydroxy and carboxylate groups.
