The research progress of railway locomotive on-board fire extinguishing technologies is analyzed from three aspects: the domestic and foreign relevant railway locomotive fire standards,the fire facilities configuration status and research status of railway locomotive on-board fire extinguishing technologies. The technical benefits, economic benefits and social benefits of on-board fixed fire extinguishing system installed on railway locomotive are ana?lyzed from the perspective of overall tunnel fire prevention. It is pointed out that the water mist extinguishing technology and fire extinguishing technology with fire detection tube are the future de?velopment directions of railway locomotive on-board fire extin?guishing technology. The existing fire extinguishing systems have many problems such as large space occupation, poor safety and low fire extinguishing efficiency, when used for railway locomotive.
