The paper introduces the structural composition and working condition of the 500 t large deepwater salvage grab, establishes the mathematical model of grab force combining the special operation environment of salvage grab, and analyzes the excavation mechanism and edge cut force of the grab. With the finite element software Ansys, the paper builds the finite element analysis model of the grab and analyzes the grab structure. Also, LS-DYNA is applied to analyze the process of the salvage grab penetrating the hull plate.
