The serum-free medium has more advantages than natural medium or synthetic medium. Therefore, serum-free medium has increasingly gained much more attention and wider application in more and more areas such as life sciences basic research, biomedicine. This paper mainly discussed the development process of serum-free medium and its composition improvement, as well as the application and development.
