However, college students' understanding and appreciation of English texts is superficial. The reason for that is college English teachers did not attach due importance to the unique role of literature in their teaching. Literature's impact on students' deep understanding of texts is innegligible. Its role in influencing and nurturing students' good personality is irreplaceable. Thus, college English teaching should pay great attention to the input of literary knowledge.
