话语语言学关照下的翻译观认为语篇是翻译的基本单位。衔接和连贯作为语篇的两大特征，分别是指通过将语句聚合在一起的语法、词汇及其他手段以实现语篇逻辑关系序列组合、语义顺畅的手段。从这两大特征入手，考察壮族史诗《布洛陀史诗》（英译本）中的各种衔接和连贯的运用，得出两者对译文语篇生成具有重要的作用和价值，它们有助于译者实现典籍英译中语篇的成功重构。%Discourse is the basic unit of translation from the perspective of discourse linguistics. As two main factors of discourse, cohesion serves as a way of combining the sentences by means of grammar, vocabulary and others while coherence serves as a way of combinatorial sequence and smoothness. This paper, based on examples from The Epic of Baeuqloegdoz, aims to discuss the function and value of these two factors in the development of discourse in target language. Thus in ethnical English translation, translators should make fully consideration of cohesion and coherence so as to produce discourse successfully in target language.
