Reproductive behaviors in Helicoverpa armigera and Helicoverpa assulta were investigated under laboratory conditions. The results showed that (1) The mating capacities of two sibling species female and male had no significant differences. The mating rates of two sibling species on the third-day adults were relatively high. Furthermore, the mating duration of H. Assulta was longer than that of H. Armigera. Mating duration gradually prolonged with the increase of the mating age. The stage of daily mating activity of two sibling species had significant differences. (2 ) The preoviposition periods of H. Armigera and H. Assulta were 2.5 d and 3.6 d on 1-day-old adults respectively, and the preoviposition periods of H. Armigera were significantly shorter than that of H. Assulta among different age pairs. The premating periods of H. Armigera were significantly longer than that of H. Assulta among different age pairs. The egg productions of H. Armigera were significantly higher than that of H. Assulta among different age pairs. Both oviposition periods and fecundities had significant differences between the two sibling species. The fecundities of H. Armigera were much more than that of H. Assulta among different age pairs. The significance of these findings for the application of sex pheromones to control the two species was discussed. These discoveries would be useful to fully elucidate isolation mechanisms of the two sibling species.%在(27±1)℃,光周期14L:10D的条件下对棉铃虫(Helicoverpa armigera)和烟夜蛾(Helicoverpa assulta)的生殖行为进行了比较研究.结果表明:(1)2种夜蛾雌蛾或雄蛾的交配能力之间均无显著差异;3日龄蛾的交配率较高,6日龄前棉铃虫的交配率均显著高于烟夜蛾;不同蛾龄下烟夜蛾的交配持续时间均显著长于棉铃虫,且随着交配蛾龄的增加而逐渐延长;2种夜蛾交配高峰出现的时间明显不同.(2)1日龄交配的棉铃虫和烟夜蛾,其产卵前期分别为2.5和3.6d;不同交配蛾龄棉铃虫的产卵前期均显著短于烟夜蛾,但其寿命均长于烟夜蛾;不同蛾龄棉铃虫卵的孵化率均显著高于烟夜蛾;2种夜蛾的产卵期和产卵量之间存在显著差异,二者3日龄前的产卵量相对较高,且棉铃虫的产卵量显著高于烟夜蛾.最后,对这些结果在棉铃虫和烟夜蛾防治中应用的可能性进行了讨论.
