However, thedescendants considerthat Zheng Xuan’s note on the“six categories of poems”inZhou Li(one of the classics ofConfucianism)is that ofliu yi(feng,fu, bi, xing, ya and song:termsinclassicalChineseliterarycriticism) in thePreface of Mao Poetry, which confuses the meaning ofxingof poetry and that of creating poetry. Thus, due to this misconception and the unreasonable cutting ofxingof creating poetry tobiandxing, the true meaning of Mao’sLiuYibecomes obscure, and then Zheng Xuan’s view ofxinginMao Zhuanisdeserted.%郑玄对《毛传》116个“兴也”的笺注就是对《毛诗序》“六义”中“兴”的诠释,而后人却把郑玄对《周礼》“六诗”的注释当做是对《毛诗序》“六义”的解释,由是混淆了用诗之兴与作诗之兴的区别。然而,由于后人对郑玄两种比兴观念的误解,把用诗之兴当作了作诗之比兴,把本来是作诗之兴又切割为比和兴,遂使毛公“六义”真正涵义不明,郑玄对《毛传》兴体的论述也被抛弃了。
