Old Uighurs was one of the important ancient nationalities in Dunhuang 's history .Its historical activities had been lasting through the Dynasties of Sui , Tang, Song and Yuan , and extended to the mid -Ming Dynasty when the Yugurs began to migrate eastward .They not only established the regime of Shazhou Uighur whose center were Guazhou and Shazhou ,but also left a certain amount of Uighur grottoes , as well as prosperous Buddhist culture .It cre-ated condition for the formation of the Yugurs .The work of Huihu yu Dunhuang( Uighurs and Dunhuang) discusses the history and culture of Dunhuang Uighur systematically .It can be regarded as the excellent writings of Uighur Studies and Yugurology .%回鹘是敦煌历史上有着重要影响的古代民族之一，其历史活动上通隋唐，下贯宋元，一直延续到明代中期裕固族的东迁，不仅以瓜沙为中心建立了沙州回鹘政权，而且留下了一定数量的沙州回鹘洞窟，为裕固族的形成创造了条件。《回鹘与敦煌》一书系统地论述了敦煌回鹘的来龙去脉与历史文化情况，堪称回鹘学、裕固学研究的力作。
